Meet Dr. Jim Wiseman
Education & Pre-career
He completed pre-chiropractic studies at Kent State University and graduated from Cleveland Chiropractic College in 1977. Prior to attending college Dr. Wiseman was one of the youngest U.S. Army helecopter pilots and attended helicopter flight school when he was 18 years old. Afterwards he did two tours in Vietnam. He was wounded and injured his back in a helicopter crash. Afterwards chiropractic care helped him more than anything else, and he chose to pursue that as a career.
Wellness Care & Research
Over the years he has done extensive research and study in the fields of wellness care. He has taken a special interest in the reality of what works in nutrition, as there are many claimed benefits from a multitude of nutritional supplements that the research simply does not back up. Part of Dr. Wiseman’s daily routine each morning when he arrives at his office around 6 a.m. is to review any new research that has been published on nutrition and healthcare the day before. In recent years there has been a lot of interest and research done on omega-3 fish oil. This has been one of the most promising things in nutrition that actually does what has been claimed. Also recent excellent research has shown that vitamin D 3 is one of the most promising vitamins in boosting the immune system, reducing cardiovascular disease and cancer. Dr. Wiseman keeps copies of various university research on these subjects in his office to give to patients if they are interested.
Different types of laser therapies that are very beneficial have come about in recent years and are used to treat a variety of conditions. Dr. Wiseman uses the type of laser therapy that treats musculoskeletal conditions that include back and neck pain, carpal tunnel, headaches, and bone and joint pain. Also utilized in the office are chiropractic techniques. Dr. Wiseman has also qualified as an expert witness in court and testified on many occasions on behalf of his patients about physical injuries and disabilities.
Dr. Wiseman is married with three children. He and his family are very active members of Riverpark Church which is located at the old Hamel’s Amusement Park. Dr. Wiseman’s passion for serving his community connects with the vision of Riverpark, whose statement of purpose is “Serving thirsty people.”
